High pressure water jetting is also used to remove roots that have grown through into drainage system, high pressure water is used as an environmentally friendly cutting technique where a lot of tree roots have infiltrated a drainage system.
A root cutter is employed in tandem with water cutting techniques to restore naturally smooth and efficient flow capacity. The directional root cutter can apply up to 10,000 psi in a fully monitored operation. Insitu CCTV surveying enables the engineers to view the work that is being carried out and be very precise in the cutting action which is applied to remove the roots from the drain.
Roots can also be removed by means of electro-mechanical machining, this is carried out with a large rotary machine which rotates a large cable fitted with root cutting tools, this type of work is ideal for the smaller drains and is carried out also with Insitu CCTV surveying , when the roots are cut out they will be removed from the drain by means of high pressure water jetting.
When the roots have been removed the engineer will be able to survey the damage caused by the roots and advise what repair work is necessary.
